Firmware V4.2: EinkWise Code, Calendar Syncing, Writing Tools, and More
We're thrilled to release Firmware V4.2. This update makes it easy to use your BOOX device as a seamless fit into your daily workflow, whether you are new to BOOX or a long-time BOOX user. Let's explore more details.
Display Settings Made Easy: EinkWise Code and Image Smoothing
We've added EinkWise Code in Firmware V4.2. Now, you don't have to tinker with complex parameters. Just enter the code from the community to optimize your screen settings for third-party apps. You can also share your configs with others easily.
If your workflow involves heavy image viewing, Image Smoothing is an update for you to enjoy improved image clarity. When your device is in HD or Regal Refresh Mode, simply go to EinkWise to turn this feature on. You can also enable Image Smoothing in NeoReader for various types of documents like PDF, EPUB, MOBI, and more.

Manage Schedule Seamlessly: Calendar Syncing and Lasso Shortcut
In Firmware V4.2, you can now create events and reminders in the built-in Calendar Memo. It supports importing major third-party calendars such as Google Calendar, Outlook, and CalDAV to Events. If you want to adjust your events created in these calendars, simply do so in the Events section. The changes will be synced automatically once you log in to your calendar accounts.
We’ve bridged the gap between notes and schedule. With the Lasso tool, you can instantly lasso any handwritten note and add it as a calendar event or reminder.

Note-taking Boost: Template Hub, Scroll Page Layout, and Writing Tools
Firmware V4.2 makes taking notes on your ePaper tablet more efficient. Now you can download various templates categorized from the built-in Template Hub. For those who find page breaks restrictive, the new Scroll Layout for Handwritten Notes allows for a vertically extending long-page canvas. You can scroll down to continue writing without the need to add a new page manually, perfect for long-form writing, expansive charts, or long screenshots without causing a page break.
Writing tools are also optimized in Firmware V4.2. You can now adjust pressure sensitivity for the Pen brush if you want a more precise art piece. The Eraser now becomes more visible, and it can automatically switch back to the writing tools you used previously.
The Lasso tool can do more now. The content selected can be moved to other layers if you want to organize your notes. After lassoing, you can even decide whether it will switch to the brush to keep writing or not. And don't worry if you need to drag or zoom the canvas. The selected content will stay lassoed.

Wrap-up
Apart from the features above, the AI Assistant within NeoReader is more versatile. Except for highlighted text, you can now ask questions based on vector images and areas circled with a stylus. And it will provide you with instant context and references. The floating toolbar in the Notes app can now be docked anywhere on the screen if you press and drag it. And there are many more updates for you to explore. The Firmware V4.2 is rolling out in batches. If you haven’t received it yet, please be patient a bit longer or check for updates in Settings.
