Using your BOOX device often means moving data, whether it's syncing documents or transferring files via features like BOOXDrop. When you transfer files via the Internet, we store them on our server temporarily so you can download them to your terminal device.
To protect this process, each of these actions is protected using end-to-end SSL-encrypted transmission. This technology acts as a secure tunnel for your data, providing vital security benefits:
1. Confidentiality: It encrypts data from the moment it leaves your device until it reaches BOOX servers. This ensures that even if data is intercepted, it remains unreadable to unauthorized eyes.
2. Data Integrity: It prevents your content from being tampered with or altered as it travels across networks.
No intermediary, including network providers or routers, can access what’s being transferred. Furthermore, all sync data uploaded to our servers is encrypted and stored exclusively for your use. We do not utilize the sync data you upload for any personalized analysis or internal analysis purposes.
File Protection for Privacy
To ensure your specific documents remain confidential, we have implemented File Protection. When you take notes, highlight a passage, or annotate a document, your content stays encrypted and protected. For users who want even more control, BOOX also offers per-note encryption. Individual notes can be locked behind a separate numeric password, giving you an additional layer of privacy for sensitive entries, whether it’s a personal journal, confidential work material, or early ideas that you’re still shaping.
Your documents and books receive the same level of protection. When locked with a passcode, your Library is protected from unauthorized access, ensuring your reading experience on BOOX remains private.
On BOOX devices that support fingerprint recognition, such as the Note Air5 C, you can even lock your notes and files with your fingerprint for quicker, more seamless protection.
Reliable Access Control
Security continues at the device level, where robust access controls help ensure that your information stays in your hands. We have designed specific features to prevent unauthorized physical access to your device:
1. PIN Code Locking: You can secure your BOOX device with a unique passcode to ensure that only authorized users can unlock and use it.
2. Fingerprint Access: Some BOOX devices feature fingerprint recognition, like the Palma 2 Pro. It enables you to access your device with a simple touch.
These access settings protect your content even if the device is lost or borrowed. Importantly, we do not use your handwriting or audio data to create individual digital templates for identification, nor do we process your biometric data on our servers.
Cloud Sync and Data Management
Backup is designed with the same priorities in mind: convenience without compromising privacy. It helps prevent accidental data loss and keeps your cloud files secure. You get the benefits of accessibility and continuity without sacrificing control over your information.
And please note that if you ever choose to delete your account, all data gathered through our devices and services will be comprehensively deleted or irreversibly anonymized.
